An air winch is a device that uses compressed air to lift and pull heavy objects. They are often used in remote areas, mines, oil fields, and on ships.

How they work

  • Compressed air is channeled into a pneumatic motor
  • The motor directs air to a set of ports, causing the drums to rotate
  • A directional control valve allows the winch to move forward, backward, or remain neutral

Advantages

  • Lifting force: Air winches can lift heavy objects without using a lot of electricity
  • Spark-resistant: The pneumatic motor can be used in harsh environments
  • Compact: Air winches are lightweight and have a compact structure
  • Safe and easy to use: Air winches are easy to operate and safe to use

Uses Moving heavy objects in remote areas, Lifting and hauling in mines and oil fields, Lifting and hauling on ships, Offshore applications, and Hazardous environments with limited space.

Types

  • Ingersoll Rand Infinity Winches: These premium air winches are made with cast iron and steel, and are designed for harsh environments
  • Thern Durahoist and Atlas winches: These winches use vane motors
  • Thern MTA and TA series winches: These winches use radial piston motors
